Greetings from the Officers of your Council! During 2022 we had the opportunity to return to normal activities following the difficulties of the last couple of years. The Marine units we support resumed gatherings and events, and we were able to better support our Oklahoma Marines and their families. This year promises to be the same. Our next social gathering will be our annual members meeting during April (information and invitation included). I encourage you to attend and find out what the Council is doing and reconnect with other members. This event is generously sponsored by Tinker Federal Credit Union at no cost to our members. Although our Birthday lunch is our signature event and a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with fellow Marines, once a year isn’t enough. Speaking of Marine Corps Birthday events this year’s luncheon will be held on Friday, the 3rd of November 2023, at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club located at 7000 NW Grand Blvd, Nichols Hills (same location as last year). More details will follow as we get closer to the day, but I can assure you that we will do our best to honor our Marine Corps and Marines who have served our great nation. What makes all our efforts possible is your support. Four years ago, we introduced our Council Donor/Sponsorship Program, (information included) and the response has been wonderful. Over the years we have been blessed to have BancFirst as our Birthday luncheon Presenting Sponsor and along with our very generous and faithful sponsors, we have been able to keep our cost low and sponsor complimentary tickets to each of our Marine Units across the state, our JROTC and young Marine programs, the OU ROTC program and “poolies” from our OKC RS to attend the annual luncheon and learn about the history and virtues of our service. The Council continues our long history of supporting the Marine community. As the Marine units across the state resumed their annual Marine Corps Birthday Balls, the council helped sponsor several of these events. Additionally, we have helped to sponsor a family day for both The Fort Sill MARDET and BTRY F 2/14. We continue to sponsor Shooting events and Drill Competitions for our JROTC programs, and we continue to sponsor various awards to recognize superior performance such as the Community Service awards for members of our reserve units, Marine and NCO of the year for both our reserve and active components, and recognition awards for our top recruiters from Recruiting Station (RS) within the state. Without our donors and sponsors this and the other activities we support would not be possible. Thank you, to all current donors and sponsors, and I encourage you consider supporting the council if you do not already. Again, thank
you for your support and I hope to see you at the annual meeting in April.
Semper Fidelis,
